CNC Routing
We are able to offer clients the services of three state-of-the-art CNC machines: two 3-axis and one 5-axis.
Our machines are operated by highly skilled technicians who know how to get the most out of them and are proficient in all the latest Rhino, Alpha-Cam, SolidWorks and 3D AutoCAD software, which means that not only can we offer precision cutting, time and time again, but we are also able to create intricate models and sculptures, turning any 3D shape into reality. Indeed we believe that we are the only UK scenic company able to take the 5-axis machine through its full range of capabilities.
We don't just undertake CNC work as part of a larger project, we also supply stand-alone CNC services, supplying clients with all manner of things, for example, architectural models, machined fake brickwork and prototype furniture.
5 AXIS CNC MACHINE
This machine can be used for sculpting, carving and machining 3D items in materials ranging from foam through to solid wood. Information required can be obtained from computer-generated models and we are able to run 24-hour shifts as required by the demands of each particular project.
- table size 3050mm x 1525mm
- Z height 800mm
- max machining size 2440mm x 1000mm x 700mm.
Example Applications: This facility has been used to produce a stunningly accurate 7m replica of a pair of Adidas Predator Powerswerve football boots. It was also used to manufacture each of the 400 complex curved façade panels for the Chanel Mobile Art exhibition, part of the curved roof for the prestigious Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2009 and the moulds and panels for a sculptural pavilion at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.
3 AXIS CNC MACHINES
These machines can be used for routing, drilling and horizontal machining. The larger machine can be used for tandem loading which results in faster production. Both machines are in constant day to day use and we are able to run 24-hour shifts as required by the demands of each particular project.
- machine 1 has a table size of 3050mm x 1520mm
- machine 2 has a table size of 6100mm x 1525mm.
Example Applications: This facility was used to machine out the brickwork for a 10m long section of 'brick wall' for the Hitachi Inspire Life Event. It was also used to produce the 'wrought iron' intricate handrail fretwork for the launch of Cunard's Queen Victoria, the staging units and treads for the UK Bollywood Awards, a giant pair of angel's wings for the launch of a new game at Gamescom and in tandem with the 5-axis, to achieve the curved roof for the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2009.
SCANNING
Should an existing CAD model not be available, we can scan an item to produce the necessary data. A great example of this is the Adidas project mentioned above, for which we scanned a football boot to create the CAD model thus enabling us to machine the 7m replica.
