New Director of Composites appointed

A Director of Composites Development has been appointed and we are delighted to welcome Edwin Stokes into the role. His remit will be to focus on the architectural market, looking particularly at projects with complex geometry; this could be facades, sculptures or furniture. FRP (fibre reinforced polymer) allows designers to throw away the ruler - the freedom to explore soft organic forms and dramatic new directions in thinking having been released by the emergence of new composites, production capabilities and software modelling techniques.

Edwin is a materials specialist with particular knowledge of FRP composite materials for architectural applications. He has 10 years experience of facade and building engineering for leading engineering consultancy, ARUP and during this period he was involved in the design of a number of innovative and challenging projects, ranging in scale from temporary pavilions to major infrastructure.

The use of Digital Architecture is increasing; indeed we have already undertaken a number of specialist architectural projects utilising our state of the art CNC facilities to produce moulds that directly reflect any given design and deliver a precision high-end result. A key strength of ours has always been our ability to think laterally about a creative challenge to find ingenious solutions and we believe we are perfectly suited to partnering with architects to explore new possibilities to the full.
