New Product Set to Revolutionise Musical Theatre
We are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new product, a portable flying grid system that will allow the installation of theatrical productions in arenas across the globe. This sophisticated, yet completely flexible system will allow, for the first time ever, the presentation of large scale touring musical productions to arena audiences, opening up markets that were previously inaccessible and potentially revolutionising the theatrical industry by allowing producers a much bigger choice of venues, cities and countries into which they can take these shows.
The system has been jointly developed by ourselves; Richard Martin, an independent technical director based in Australia; and the Australian based arm of the theatrical group, The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific Pty (RUCAP). We are delighted to bring this cutting edge technology to the industry.
Our grid system provides the given venue with a temporary theatre 'infrastructure' for the containment of all scenery, lighting, sound, video and, for the first time, temporary power flying, as opposed to the laborious use of counterweight systems. Freed from the space restrictions of conventional theatre, the system will also improve the installation process as a whole, with productions being installed and dismantled far quicker. Importantly, it means that we can now offer a fully tested, fully adaptable, portable flying system, suitable for use in any arena. It is already generating interest in the industry and has been used for the first time on Disney's The Lion King, which presented in Taiwan in July and August. The configuration for this particular production provides 24 computer-controlled motorised fly lines, traveling up to two metres per second and carrying a payload of up to 500kg per fly line. Each fly line is 16 metres in length, spaced at 150mm. This allowed 32 tonnes of equipment and automation to be installed and commissioned in just two days.
We were very well placed to turn the ideas into reality due to our respected automation system, Qmotion, which augments the new flying system and is just as flexible. Another notable advantage comes from our huge stock of items such as winches and controls, the ready availability of which help keep costs down for potential clients.
