Queen Elizabeth Naming Ceremony

The naming ceremony for the latest ship to join the Cunard fleet, Queen Elizabeth, took place at Southampton's Ocean Terminal recently and we provided a scenic package complete with plenty of swagging. Appropriately, the ship was named by Her Majesty The Queen herself and with an audience of VIP guests in attendance, the event was exceptionally high profile.

Working for Robbie Williams Productions, we provided a scenic package that included the dressing and swagging of the royal box, orchestra stage, band stage and the main seating block. We also created a beautiful hardwood button-pressing unit - which was presented to the Ship's Captain at the end of the ceremony - and the onboard bottle smash equipment, unquestionably the most important part of the naming procedure.

Steve Dolan, Senior Account Director: "We are extremely proud to have worked on this prestigious event. Working closely with our suppliers meant we were able to meet tight deadlines and ensure that the job was completed not only on schedule, but also to the highest of standards."

The most complicated item to construct was a CNC cut, gold painted Cunard Crest. This consisted of 92 pieces covering an area of 8m by 8m and was positioned piece by piece on the floor of the central event space. In order to achieve the desired finish to the various stages and seating areas, we provided cladding, treads, carpets and drapes. Finally, we also provided an 80m by 3m printed vinyl graphic along the restricted zone fence adjacent to the ship, which formed a backdrop to the event space.
