Striking set for Belfast SPOTY
The set for this high-profile television event was designed by Dominic Tolfts and created a striking impact through the use of LED wands. We manufactured a bespoke truss and tracking unit for the suspended LED wand ‘halo’, along with a series of steel uprights to provide housing for more wands across the rear and sides of the stage.
We created the 30m by 20m stage from stock units, laying a black gloss laminate surface with CNC’d recesses into which more LED wands were fitted, in a continuation of the design. We also created a slim, steel ‘S’ shaped structure on to which further LEDs were attached. Around 60m long, this feature swooped around and up through the set.
Additional elements included a laminate surround for the large central screen and a series of six upright frames for the pillar-shaped screens flanking the centre of the stage.
