We were asked to construct two zones inside The O2. The first was the 'Create Zone', consisting of three interactive Chroma-Key film booths, with a central seating area from which rose a stalk and three petals. Using our 5-axis CNC machine, we cut and shaped over 400 slices of 24mm birch plywood for the booths, stalk and petals. These were stacked on top of each other and hand finished with a final sanding and white wax application. Secondly, in the 'Concierge Zone' we designed and installed all of the rigging, steelwork and LED cabling for a striking light sculpture. Consisting of 250 spheres, with internal four-colour LED lighting and hung in various beaded lengths around a core structure, the spheres were custom moulded in three different sizes.
