3D Scanner Completes the Picture
We’re always looking to expand our in-house facilities. Our most recent investment is a Steinbichler Comet L3D scanner which allows us to produce 3D models of objects by scanning them optically.
This scanner helps complete our 3D offering and combines scanning technology with our 3D printing and 5 axis CNC machines. This enables us to use 3D technology to take a project on the complete journey from data gathering to CAD design and realisation. We can now model and replicate existing forms quickly, which adds value to both our scenic and architectural offerings.
The scanner has been put to work already and was flown to Azerbaijan specifically to gather data for the manufacture for a current project. It was escorted by one of our mechanical design engineers, Simon Poon, who is already trained in using our 3D printers to their full potential and is now helping our CAD team to maximise use of the Comet L3D.
