Documenting the Process and Completion
This year’s expanded architectural programme at the Serpentine Gallery includes four Summer Houses, each taking inspiration from the nearby Queen Caroline’s Temple. Each Summer House has been designed by a different architect, as yet to build a permanent building in the UK.
Our workshop teams and on site crew have manufactured and constructed each of these very different structures, working with the architects to deliver their designs alongside that of BIG’s main pavilion and photojournalist Jude Palmer has been in the workshops and on site capturing the moments before and during the Press Launch.
The following photographs show all four Summer Houses by Yona Friedman, Barkow Leibinger, Kunle Adeyemi and Asif Khan.
