Metalshop photo makes Competition Shortlist
Since she joined us in the summer of 2016, Graphics Assistant Lydia Walker can often be found out in our workshops, camera in hand, capturing what we do. It’s important for us to be able to tell the story behind the creation of the many projects we deliver and a large part of Lydia’s job is to capture the processes and people at work.
We’re very proud that Lydia’s photo of our Metalshop made the shortlist of the 2017 EEF Photography Competition, in the amateur category, with the theme of ‘Made by Britain, Loved by the World’. The competition aims to raise the profile of modern day UK manufacturing by showcasing the industry’s creativity, diversity and heritage through inspiring photography. The shortlisted photographs portray the various stages of manufacturing – from design, process and technology in action through to the finished product – and cover both traditional and high-tech sectors.
Lydia attended the awards ceremony in the House of Commons earlier this week: “I was delighted to make the shortlist! I really wanted to capture the people at work here at Stage One. As you move through our huge workshops, the different workshop teams really feel like different families. I hope my photo captures something of that.”
