Car of the Future: Revealed!
Last Saturday, Harry Ingram was one very excited young designer! Not many six-year-olds have their car design brought to life in our workshops and then revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed. As the winner of a children’s design competition, Harry saw his ‘car of the future’ feature at the very heart of the Mastercard Innovation Lab, having been manufactured in our workshops using much of the equipment and many of the techniques used to create real F1 prototypes: from CAD modelling and large capacity 5 axis CNC machining, to High Quality Finishing. The car looked amazing and included many special features, as Harry himself explains:
”My car of the future has lots of special things in. It has wings for flying because when I’m a grown up I want to be a pilot. It has ice creams to make everyone happy and runs on sucking up bad air to help the planet and the plants and helps people to breathe better.”
Over the last 25 years we’ve worked on many automotive projects including car launches and reveals but it was pretty special to be asked to realise the design of someone so young. The competition aimed to encourage the next generation of motorsport enthusiasts. We think it worked a treat.
