Well done Rebecca & Jack!
We’re excited to announce that two of our Apprentice team members have completed their studies, and are joining us as fully qualified creative industry professionals!
Rebecca Carlton from our Scenic department started her Apprenticeship with York College in 2017, specialising in Painting & Decorating. Although most of her classmates were following the traditional route of domestic and commercial decoration, Rebecca was more interested in the creative industries and was a perfect match for our scenic department. Rebecca’s time as an Apprentice has been a mix of exams at college and projects here at Stage One. We asked Rebecca what her favourite part has been, ‘Learning different techniques such as Concrete Effects and Scenic Texture has been great. It’s been really different to what other people on my course have been doing, but it’s been a great fit for me as I want to work in the creative industries.’
Jack Davy from our Woodshop started his Level 3 Apprenticeship with York College in 2016, specialising in Bench Joinery. Jack’s learned a lot in his three years at Stage One and recognises the people and the culture as some of his favourite parts of the role. The balance between his studies at college and practical experience here mean that he is now in a great position to develop his career even further. Learning and developing his skillset in traditional joinery, carpentry, health and safety and theory has given Jack the foundation he needs to build a varied and successful career, but it hasn’t been without its challenges.
