Elvis Evolution is an immersive entertainment experience that combines live theatre with museum style installations. The story of Elvis’s life unfolds as the audience travels through a series of sets containing Elvis memorabilia and period environments.

Stage One was commissioned to deliver the full set build and fit out. Visitors enter via the ticket office featuring a characteristic header, polished trims to the bar and a centre console housing display screens.

Moving into Bob’s Diner we manufactured a steel substructure, clad, tiled and fitted with a Corian top. Mixed seating combines bar stools and counter-top, tables and chairs, and booths.

Part of the story is told in train carriages, two adjoining spaces lined with benches, the walls clad with panels. Viewers watch actors and live props move along a travelator, enhancing the content shown on screen; screen walls to the sides lower to reveal the adjacent audience; these movements controlled using our Qmotion automation software.

Another part of the story is told in the studio, this time with tiered seating and a thrust stage featuring an opaque Perspex dancefloor for live performers. We also built the control room to the rear.

Various bars offer refreshment between performances:

  • Blue Hawaii: the bar structure clad in half sections of variables size of bamboo with an oak top, the header subframe covered with grass skirts to reflect the tropical theme. We also manufactured the tables and bench seating.
  • The After-Party Bar: the main bar and corresponding DJ booth feature a timber finish with copper detailing. Large booth seating lines the walls, whilst the centre is filled with tables and chairs for visitors to watch live performances on a D-shaped stage with gold trim and art deco back drop. Another photo opportunity provided by the illuminated Elvis sign.

Even between each performance set the transition areas, including Elvis’s dressing room, the NBC studio, the corridors, and others, are adorned with décor and memorabilia reminiscent of the time.

This project presents true craftsmanship in turning an empty venue space into a magical immersive experience of a time gone by.
