Working with our friends Done+Dusted we helped deliver several sets for the Joy Awards in Riyadh.

We first installed a ten-metre wire-pull revolve in the centre of the building. Deployed for various performances, for Ya Sham it was used to revolve a Y-shaped wall, each move revealing a new set design.

We provided scenic and automation for Il Divo and Liz Mitchell, manufacturing six separate elements. The centrepiece was a split rotunda featuring six columns joined with arches of rolled steel, a static podium with tiered base at the centre. The columns were 800mm in radius, fabricated using 30x30mm mild steel box section welded to steel profile cut rings. The bases used 80x80mm box section with 18mm ply cladding that concealed LED controllers within, all fitted with tri-castors (124 used in this set design).

Weighing three tonnes, we used two PD4 winches to pull open the split rotunda and reveal the set behind, a rhombus shaped platform flanked by a freestanding 2.8-metre-wide arch at each side, all with a similar aesthetic design. The rhombus sat upon our 10-metre revolve; it took 18 seconds to complete a revolution.

Automation was provided by our Qmotion platform and controlled using our Galileo console. Seven cues were fired in just 30 seconds.

We manufactured a ladder for Robbie Williams and using our Newton Dragon winch lowered the singer onto the stage.

Our Joule Scissor Lift raised and lowered Katy Perry during her set. Concealed into the centre of the tiered stage design, the power pack, friction motors and drives were fitted on board.

The memorial performance was delivered on a 5-metre centre-driven revolve with three concentric rings sat on top. The rings were fabricated using 30x30mm box section, radius rolled and covered in mirror Dibond, Perspex diffusing the LED fitted within. The revolve was built into a tiered base fitted with tri-castors, a roll on roll off system, the on-board drive powering the revolve to deliver three revolutions a minute.
