‘A Most Magical Christmas’ was a festive collaboration between Selfridges and Disney. A captivating scene adorned the retailer’s flagship store in London, providing a light and sound show for visitors and passersby. It was a pleasure to work with Sculptivate once again to manufacture this enchanting façade.

Tinkerbell’s trail of fairy dust began in our metal shop, a 100-metre ribbon fabricated in 17 sections using box steel and CHS tube and then painted. We worked alongside a lighting specialist who wrapped the ribbon with fairy lights, made up of individually addressable LEDs to produce the animated shimmer effect.

The ribbon led to and from an iconic Disney Castle, an 11-metre-high model that wrapped around the corner of the building. FR aluminium composite panels were scenically treated with a combination of pink and blue gradients as well as printed vinyl, and finally a pearlescent glitter finish. The panels were applied in layers to create depth and topped with intricately cut gold spires to enhance this majestic set.

The façade featured additional well-known Disney emblems such as the Jolly Roger ship from Peter Pan, and the carriage from Cinderella. Again, their design printed on vinyl and applied to panels crafted to bespoke shapes and sizes in our woodshop.

Installed by a third party, we manufactured tailor-made stillages for the component pieces to aid transportation and unloading, the frame number etched into each piece to facilitate installation. We also provided a core crew to assist the installation team with any queries that arose on site.
