This inflatable trophy was constructed in curved segments and assembled on the pitch during the ceremony.
At around 20m x 6m, with the largest curve reaching a height of around 4m, the biggest challenge lay in taking a simple 2D visual and using it to create the 3D reality. This was further complicated by the responsive nature of inflatables – the air inside shrinking or expanding according to the current temperature and atmospheric conditions – while the segments had to fit together accurately, coming together to form the trophy shape.
The job of hand-painting each segment with the geometric design required a meticulous approach to ensure continuity across all five inflatable curves.
