Dancing on Ice
We created a brand new set for the latest series of ITV’s prime-time weekend show. The dynamic set used lightboxes configured in swirls, arches and as edging to create a range different lighting effects and a sense of fast, flowing movement.
Lightboxes edged the entire 31m long oval rink and large main stage area, as well as framing the top and bottom of the long LED screens. Further lightbox curves swooped across the front of the screens while six large lightbox arcs were flown from the roof, continuing the fast and flowing motif. An 18m by 6m flown centrepiece was created from a swirling ‘crown’ of curved lightbox sections, interspersed with stretch fabric covered panels.
Celebrity contestants and their professional partners enter the show rink from the practice rink via a 12m long, 3.5m high lightbox tunnel. Made from twenty individual arches, this feature created a dramatic entrance, allowing for effects such as chasing light sequences. Our workshop and on site crew also created a stunning bespoke desk for the judges as well as a presenters’ viewing gallery, overlooking the show rink and set.
