Prouve House Pods

Client
Galerie Patrick Seguin

We were asked by RSH+P to manufacture various additions to a 1940’s demountable Jean Prouvé house. Combining renovation, high-spec detailing and modern technology, the additions include the creation of two bespoke pods containing kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Further additions of link bridges and a pivoting deck as well as the provision of all mechanical and electrical building services mean that the house has been transformed into a self-contained holiday retreat complete with water tank, gas for heating and hot water, photovoltaic electricity generation and waste water recycling. All elements can be manually assembled and dismantled on site.

Originally intended to provide emergency housing in France during WW2, only a few Prouvé houses remain in existence. The new designs both preserves and reinvents what is considered to be a work of 20th century design genius. The house was showcased at Art Basel 2015.
