Our cable net system delivered an aerial ballet with brollies, flew the actress playing Shakespeare’s Miranda and also coordinated the flight of the huge 33m ‘umbrella’. We also provided a number of major scenic features and stages, working closely with other contractors to integrate such elements as lighting and the huge inflatable sculpture of Alison Lapper.

In addition, we constructed the radio telescope shaped Protocol stage with 9m long access ramp, lift and treads; the central Book Stage including a tube fan of thirty 8m long feather quills providing the ‘page-turning’; and the Astrolabe, a sculptural piece with themed detailing including a radial arrangement of crutches and paralympic running blades.
