This eye-catching sculpture was created for our client as part of their recent promotional campaign. The brief was to create a ‘sandcastle’ in the shape of an unbranded premium vehicle, representing Sixt’s unique hire service which allows customers to select a specific car.
The sculpture was created from large blocks of low-density polystyrene and the shape formed on our large volume 5-axis CNC machine. Once resin coated, it was completely covered with sand by our interpretation team. It was important that details were over-carved during the machining stages, so as not to be lost during the sand application. The sculpture was then finished with a sand trim around the base, recreating the look of a ‘sandcastle’ car made in situ on the beach.
We manufactured the sculpture to just under life-size, allowing for easy transportation while remaining convincingly life-like and eye-catching. The car will tour various locations including airports and conferences.
