A popular project in our calendar, we enjoy being on the beach with Amplify for the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

This year there was more. More activations meant more materials, more trucks to transport them, more jobs to do on site, and more people to do them. Thankfully, from crew planning to logistical coordination and everything in between, we have an army of skilled people behind every creative installation and performance.

We recovered the materials held in storage from the previous year and identified what would be re-purposed, whilst we manufactured the new brand activations in our workshops. Our metal shop fabricated the structural frameworks and test built the components to ensure fit with the existing materials. Our wood shop and paint departments were responsible for manufacturing, finishing, and detailing the new scenic elements required.

Due to the scale and location of this project we operated 24 hours, dividing the works between two teams. During the twilight hours when there was less traffic on the promenade, the night shift carried out tasks that required plant equipment, such as unloading materials onto the beach and heavy structural builds. The day shift is the largest of the two teams and was responsible for installation and finishing across the site.

We build each crew to accommodate the requirements of the project, and in this instance included staff with specific remits to help streamline the process on site:

  • a Project Coordinator to provide administrative support, from organising travel and accommodation to managing site documentation,
  • a Storeman to issue and maintain materials on site when and where required,
  • support from our design team who were on hand with instant access to models and drawings to clarify design queries for quick-fire problem solving.
