The Prodigy – Touring Set

Client
Tim Fawkes Lighting Design

Famed for their frenetic energy and for being one of the best live acts in the world, The Prodigy required a set that delivered an atmosphere of dystopian revolt while reflecting the ‘aggressive camaraderie’ of their audience.

Lighting designer Tim Fawkes approached us directly with his concept that included four large WWII themed searchlights and three CCTV towers – all manufactured in lightweight aluminium, yet strong and resilient enough for international touring. Our metal shop created the chassis, yoke and tilting lighting frame for each searchlight and locking castors were fitted to each unit for stability and manoeuvrability during the tour. The searchlights were given a paint finish of rusted, weathered steel while LED lighting around the yoke frames added another dimension to the high-octane lighting.

We manufactured three 4m CCTV towers, wrapping scenic barbed wire around the aluminium tower frame and topping off each with five CCTV cameras. The tower posts, wire and cameras were given a rust effect finish and painted with a suitably dystopian reactive UV paint.
