Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition

Client
The Design Museum

This world-touring exhibition has been reconfigured for its latest iteration at London’s Design Museum. Our crew created the setting for over 700 objects, films, interviews, letters and photographs that explore Kubrick’s unique command of film making.

The exhibition required a precise, high-spec fit out with exceptional attention to detail. Visitors walk through a series of areas, the first of which was dedicated to Kubrick’s working process and given a deliberately behind-the-scenes feel. Subsequent areas were each dedicated to a particular film and subtly themed in specific colours. Carefully curated artefacts were displayed in bespoke acrylic-topped cases and all audio-visual elements seamlessly integrated. In three areas, we constructed special screening rooms where longer film excerpts were shown. We also created a bespoke Space Station set, along with information points and some graphic elements.

The exhibition has been exceptionally well-received, being described by the BBC’s Will Gompertz as ”immaculately and considerately presented”. Watch the video here.
