This event saw us deliver a dramatic reveal that showed off the extreme capabilities of the new Land Rover Defender. We designed and manufactured a 3m x 11m automated climbing wall which tilted from vertical to 42 degrees during the show, transforming into a steep ramp for the new car’s vertiginous entrance.
Constructed from a steel-frame, the ramp was clad with materials including corten steel and expanded mesh to provide a suitably rugged appearance. Various workshop departments worked with our engineering and automation teams to deliver the ramp which was controlled and operated using a mix of our existing Qmotion hire kit and bespoke elements.
We carried out four days of testing in our dedicated test-build hangar, adhering to the strict confidentiality required by the client for this much-anticipated launch. The project required high-impact, robust and slick functionality which we successfully delivered over the course of just one month.
