Rural Setting for Recolated 2014 Pavilion

Press
22 Mar 2015

If you didn’t manage to see Smiljan Radic’s other-worldly Serpentine Pavilion in London last summer, you now have the opportunity to experience this unique structure in the tranquil setting of Hauser & Wirth’s Somerset gallery and gardens.

We worked with Radic to develop his design early in 2014, before manufacturing the structure in our facilities near York. At the end of the summer, we began the three month de-rig and re-install, moving the entire structure from central London to Somerset. The pavilion is now open to the public in its new setting at the far end of the Piet Oudolf perennial meadow.

Radic’s delicate looking pavilion garnered much praise last year and was described by Serpentine Gallery Director, Julia Peyton-Jones, as ”A futuristic design that looks like its from the Stone Age”. Visitors to Hauser & Wirth will be able to walk around, through and underneath the pavilion.

You can find out more about how we manufactured Radic’s structure here.

With the 2014 pavilion now safely moved and ensconced in Somerset, our highly experienced pavilion team will return to working with the Serpentine Gallery and recently appointed Spanish architects SelgasCano on the Serpentine’s much anticipated 2015 pavilion.
